The Craftshop Guide

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

It’s time to start building the Craftshop, a new constructible building that will serve as the base for a whole new level of crafting in FarmVille in the near future. Plus we have some new quests to help you and your friends build it!

.

.

You’ll get the Craftshop frame for free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Craftshop on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance). If you put it into your Gift Box, you’ll be able to place it on either your Home Farm or English Countryside farm.

Advertisement: Mexican Theme 1: Jacaranda Tree, Verawood Tree, Azteca Horse, USA Flag Sheep, Mariachi Gnome, July Confetti Tree, Giant July Conffetti Tree, Mexian Farmhouse ($9.99)

If you lose your sell your Craftshop, you can purchase it again in the Market. It is listed under Buildings, though there are two versions available: the Craftshop frame (for coins) and the fully-built Craftshop (for 30 Farm Cash). If you see that it is “Locked” you either have one in your Gift Box or it’s on your farm someplace. You can have just one Craftshop per farm.

Once the Craftshop frame is on the farm you can click on it, then select “Look Inside” to see this window:

The Craftshop is a constructible building that requires certain building parts to complete it. However, it does not require the normal types of building parts, but instead three new types: Spools of Twine, Concrete bags, and Hammers.

You can acquire these parts by:

  • Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For Part” button for each type of part).
  • Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.
  • Acquire parts by spending Farm Cash. Click on the “Buy” button for that particular part to purchase all of the particular part that you need (the cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the number of parts left that you need), or buy those parts individually in the Market (you can find them in Farm Aides -> Other).
  • Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building). The cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the total number of parts left needed to finish the building.
  • Using individual parts already available in your Gift Box.
  • As rewards from certain quests (see below).

This is what the Craftshop looks like once fully constructed:

You’ll also see this window pop up when you complete it:

Right now you can’t do anything with it, but just wait, you will soon!

Farmville: Pig Breeding and Revised Truffle Hunting

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

Farmville Pig Breeding is Here and slowly being rolled out to all the farmers. Here is the official announcement and the guide

Attention pig owners, pig breeding is now available! You can start making new piglets immediately if you have a Pig Pen on either your Home Farm or your English Countryside farm. If you don’t have a Pig Pen at all, don’t worry—we’ll give you another one for free via a pop-up window:

Pig_breeding01
If you have one already built, fantastic! You’ll get a free boar as a prize. Note you will only get the free boar if your active farm has a Pig Pen constructed on it; if you’re on an active farm without a built Pig Pen, you won’t get the Boar until you construct the Pig Pen you get with the pop-up.

Important Note: If you get a prompt to place a Pig Pen, note that you cannot put it on a farm that already has one. If you do, you will go Out of Sync. It must be placed on your other farm (the one without the Pig Pen).

We’ve also streamlined the way truffle hunting works, and we’ve revised the rewards you get for redeeming truffles! Read on for all the details.

Let’s make some piglets!

Breeding new pigs is a lot like breeding new sheep. Click on your completed Pig Pen, and then choose “Look Inside” to see the new Pig Pen interface:

Pig_breeding03
If your Pig Pen is empty, you’ll need to move some pigs (not to mention a boar) into it in order to start breeding. In the example above, we have three different kinds of pigs in the Pig Pen: a Purple Boar, a Pot Belly Pig and a Tamworth Pig.

Some changes have been made: Pig Slop is no longer a Pig Pen feature, and there are now a row of stalls at the upper left (also similar to the Sheep Pen, you get one stall for each constructed level of the Pig Pen).

You’ll need a boar and a pig (or sow) to start breeding, the result of which is a piglet, which once fully grown will take on some of the characteristics of the parents, such as colors and perhaps the patterns. More than likely there will be some variation in the colors, depending on the colors of the parents. The pattern can only be inherited from the boar, but if both parents have the same pattern, the chance of pattern inheritance is much higher.

Now let’s start breeding. Click on the boar you want to breed with—in the case of this example, the Purple Boar. You’ll see options to Breed with it, or Remove it from the Pig Pen (or click on the X to close the pop-up):

Pig_breeding04

After clicking on Breed, the pigs/sows you can breed with the boar will remain in full color while the available boards will grey out. Click on the pig/sow you want to breed with and you’ll see some similar options. Here I’m choosing the Tamworth Pig:

Pig_breeding05
Select Breed again and you’ll see the Breeding window:

Pig_breeding06

Breeding a new pig is a 24 hour process and carries (by default) a 50% success rate, meaning if you’re not successful you have to start all over again. You can improve your chance of success (while decreasing the amount of time it takes to breed) by using Love Potions. You can acquire Love Potions by:

* Buying them via the Buy Potions button in the Pig Pen window (5 Love Potions at a time)
* Asking your neighbors for Love Potions via the Ask for Potions button in the Pig Pen window.

Here’s the impact of using Love Potions:

* No Love Potions used: 50% success rate, breed time: 24 hours
* 1 Love Potion used: 60% success rate, breed time: 12 hours
* 2 Love Potions used: 70% success rate, breed time: 6 hours
* 3 Love Potions used: 80% success rate, breed time: 3 hours
* 4 Love Potions used: 90% success rate, breed time: 1 hour
* 5 Love Potions used: 100% success rate, breed time: instant

You can use the up and down arrows to choose how many Love Potions you want to spend. If you don’t have enough, you’ll be prompted to buy more. When you’re satisfied with your chances, click on Breed (or Cancel if you don’t want to try breeding at this time). You may have to wait a few seconds…

Pig_breeding07
The stall at the upper left is occupied and their places in the Pig Pen pasture are replaced with helpful signs. If there’s a timer, a clock in the stall will show how much time is left to go. Once the boar and pig are done doing their thing (or you used instant breeding), the Ready! button will show up over the stall. Click on it.

Pig_breeding09
Pig_breeding10 With any luck, you’ve bred a new piglet! You can choose to name your piglet (choose anything within the Terms of Service), choose to Give it Away (this will make a post to your feed) or you can keep it.

At this moment, you still don’t know how the piglet will turn out—you’ll need to grow it up. Once you click on “Keep Piglet” you’ll get the option to place it on your farm.

Click anywhere on your farm to place it. You can click on the piglet at any time to get a menu of options:

Pig_breeding12

A piglet can be fully grown using 10 Baby Bottles. You can acquire or give Baby Bottles by:

* Asking your neighbors directly by clicking on “Ask for Bottles”
* Purchasing Bottles in the Market for 1 Farm Cash each
* Acquire all the needed Bottles by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase the remaining Bottles). The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the number of Bottles needed to grow the Piglet.
* Gifting the bottles via the Free Gifts page.

Pig_breeding13 Also note you can change the name of the piglet at any time by choosing Change Name (even after the piglet is fully grown). Selecting Feed Bottles will give as many bottles as you have in your inventory (up to the maximum needed of 10) to your piglet. Once you’ve applied 10 Bottles the piglet will now grow up into a full boar or pig.

You’ll also get this pop-up asking you to celebrate by sharing some baby bottles with your neighbors via a feed post:

Pig_breeding14
Currently boars only come in two different patterns: plain (which is really not a pattern at all, or if you want to get really technical it’s a pattern of the exact same color as the boar) and spotted. As noted above, the colors available for pig breeding is a somewhat random process, based on the colors and patterns of the parents used. Each color a parent possesses has a certain color range to it that can be applied to the piglet in question, so you never really know what you’re getting exactly.

Finally, note that there is a limit as to how many bred boars and pigs you can have on each farm at any one time. The limit is 100, which includes all bred pigs on that particular farm, in that farm’s Pig Pen, and in the Gift Box. This is per farm, so you can have up to 100 for each the Home Farm and the English Countryside farm.

And that’s pig breeding!

Truffle hunting and other Pig Pen changes

As we noted above, Pig Slop has been removed from the Pig Pen (and in fact from the game altogether). If you still have some in your Gift Box or elsewhere, go ahead and get rid of it.

Truffle hunting has been streamlined tremendously. When you click to harvest your Pig Pen, you’ll start your only truffle hunt of the day. The pig chosen to hunt with is completely random, as is the neighbor’s farm you can find the truffle on:

Pig_breeding15
If you find a truffle (there is a chance you won’t), you’ll see this pop up with the note to share the truffle with that neighbor. Clicking Share will ask you to make a post to their wall, informing them that you found a truffle on their farm. They can then respond by returning the same type of truffle to you by posting on your wall.

Again, this will be the only truffle hunt of the day; once your Pig Pen is ready to be harvested again (once every 24 hours), you can try for another truffle hunt.

The prizes for redeeming a truffle (you can find them in your Gift Box) have been heavily revised. You can get building parts, bottles, love potions, and all sorts of other treats (including other animals) by redeeming truffles now.

Finally, Pig Pens now visually show which pigs you have in it, similar to Sheep Pens. The pigs you put in last show up in each of the 3 stalls as well as the mud yard in front of the pen.

Farmville: Greenhouse Guide

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

Please Note: This is a slow release and being rolled out to all the farmers.

Welcome to green world of crop experimentation and seeding! The Greenhouse is a multi-level constructible building that you can experiment to create up to ten new Masterable crop breeds.

The bigger the Greenhouse, the higher the amount of seeds you can start to produce. And you can get your friends to help speed up the experimentation process!

Building Your Greenhouse

First off, let’s not confuse the new Greenhouse with the old one that was available in the Market; the old Greenhouse has been renamed Glasshouse and had no actual functionality (other than looking nice). Similarly the Cube Greenhouse, available exclusively through FarmVille Mobile, is merely a decoration.

Everyone will get the new Greenhouse for free the first time the play after FarmVille updates, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Greenhouse frame on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance).

The new Greenhouse is a multi-level constructible building where each level requires a certain amount of building parts to complete, and each level allows the use of more seeding trays (see below):

  • Level 1 – 12 parts total: 4 Wooden Boards, 4 Nails and 4 Bricks. Includes 1 seed tray.
  • Level 2 – 45 parts total: 15 Wooden Boards, 15 Nails and 15 Bricks. Includes 4 seed trays.
  • Level 3 – 60 parts total; 20 Wooden Boards, 20 Nails and 20 Bricks. Includes 8 seed trays.

Like many constructible building parts, you can acquire these items by:

  • Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For More” button for each type of part).
  • Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.
  • Acquire individual parts by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Buy” button for that particular part). Each part is one (1) Farm Cash.
  • Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building). The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the amount of parts left needed to finish the building.
  • Potentially through the use of Special Delivery Boxes.
  • Using individual parts already available in your Gift Box.

As you complete each level of Greenhouse, it becomes bigger and grander visually:

If you do not get the Greenhouse initially or wind up deleting (or otherwise losing) it, you can purchase it in the Market (under Buildings). You’ll need to be Level 5 to use it.

Discovering New Seeds

To see what the Greenhouse can offer (and it’s at least Level 1) just click on it on your farm and choose “Look Inside” from the menu options. The initial Greenhouse display looks like this:

Right now you’re looking at the Nursery display. Here you can find and use the right seed combinations to produce one of the new crops. Just click on the “Place a Seed” display and you’ll see a mini-Market display showing twenty familiar crops (like Strawberries, Lilacs, Wheat, etc.). Once you enter in the right two-crop combination, you’ll be told what the new crop will be and that the experimentation process has started and you’ll be deducted the cost (in coins, listed under each crop). If you enter in the wrong combination you’ll get an error message.

The Nursery display will then look like this when you start a proper two-crop combination:

In this example you can see I’m experimenting with using Raspberries and Strawberries to make a new crop. Generally this process will take three (3) days. However, if I click on “Ask Friends For Help” I can speed up this process. Each Friend I get to help me out will reduce the experimentation time by a day, so if three friends help me out, I can finish the experimenting instantly. You can also speed up the process by clicking on “Complete Now” and spending Farm Cash (the cost is two (2) Farm Cash for each friend that hasn’t helped you so far, so if no friends have helped you then the cost is six (6) Farm Cash).

Once the experimentation process is over the clock will be replaced with an image of a new seed packet. Click on “Harvest” and you’ll be rewarded with a new super-enhanced crop (in the case of mixing the Strawberries and Raspberries you get the Straspberry).

Each time you finish experimentation you’ll get fifty (50) seeds of this new crop, which is placed in your Market and can be seeded (similar to giftable Limited Edition crops). You’ll also be able to share this new crop with your friends.

If you look at the Nursery bar you can see that you only have one seed tray to work with. As you expand the Greenhouse (click on the “Expand Greenhouse” button to see what you need), you’ll get access to many more seed trays so you can experiment with a lot more special crops at the same time. For instance, a Level 2 Greenhouse will get you four (4) seed trays and the Nursery will look like this:

Just click on a tray button to move between the trays. You can experiment with any combination of special crops, there’s no restriction as to which you can try out. There will be a green “Ready” label over the ones that are ready to be harvested.

Clicking on the “Seed Genealogy” button will bring you to the genealogy display, where you can see all of the special crops available for experimenting:

You can learn more about these special crops as well as how far along your Mastery of these crops are (yes they can be Mastered!) by moving your mouse over the crop image.

Happy farming!

Farmville Duck Ponds Are Here: Official Guide

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

Farmville Duck Ponds are released to the limited number of farmers, it is a slow release and rolling out to all farmers.

Here is the official guide by Farmville Community Specialist: Voltai

.

Sure, ducks are beautiful animals generally (though don’t get me started on the Ugly Duckling), but what’s a little quacking without having a body of water to call home?

Well, that home is now available in FarmVille: the Duck Pond!
Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

Duck Ponds are constructible buildings that can house up to twenty (20) ducks (or similar animals like swans). You can also customize the look of your Duck Pond by selecting which five ducks you’d like to see on the Pond in your farm. Soon we’ll add the ability to do some fun duck breeding.

Fillin’ up the Pond
You will get the initial frame for the Duck Pond for free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Duck Pond frame on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later. You must be at least Level 5 to place a Duck Pond.

The Duck Pond is a constructible building, though it will require some different building parts than most of constructible buildings. The full build the Duck Pond you’ll need a grand total of forty (40) parts: twenty (20) Watering Cans and twenty (20) Shovels (you’re digging up a hole in the ground and putting water in it, after all):

Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

Like other constructible building parts, you can acquire these items by:

  • Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For More” button for each type of part).
  • Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.
  • Acquire individual parts by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Buy” button for that particular part). Each part is 1 Farm Cash.
  • Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building).
  • The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the amount of parts left needed to finish the building.
  • Potentially through the use of Special Delivery Boxes.
  • Using individual parts already available in your Gift Box.

Here’s a partially built and fully constructed Duck Pond:

Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

If you do not get a Duck Pond initially or wind up deleting (or otherwise losing) it, you can purchase it in the Market (under Buildings -> Animals) for 5,000 coins. Note that you can purchase a fully-built Duck Pond for 40 Farm Cash. If you already have a Duck Pond on your farm, you will not be able to place another Duck Pond (for coins). However, you will be able to place a new, fully built Duck Pond if you buy the Farm Cash version.

Putting the Quack in your Duck Pond
This is what you’ll see when you finish your Duck Pond (you can see this screen at any time by clicking on the Duck Pond and choosing the “Look Inside” option):

Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

Admittedly an empty Duck Pond is rather placid and boring. It’s time to relocate some ducks! Hopefully you have some on your farm you can move into your Duck Pond, but if you don’t, you can ask your neighbors for ducks by clicking on the Free Gifts page and selecting the Duck:

Some types of ducks will also be available by other means, such as the Market or by a gifting icon in the game.

In this example below we’ll look at how you can re-arrange the look of your Duck Pond on your farm. After I fully built out this Duck Pond, I added ten ducks to it in random fashion:

Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

There’s a number of Green Mallards and a variety of other ducks. You’ll see that five Green Mallards are standing on the rocks at the bottom of the window, while the rest of the ducks are in the water. Those ducks on the rocks also show up on the pond as you see it on the farm:

I’d rather have some of my more colorful ducks showing up, rather than these five Green Mallards. If I click on a duck on the rock, I can return it to the pond quickly. Then when I click on a duck on the water, I will see this:

Clicking on “Feature” will move that duck over to a rock (if there’s a free rock). If I choose “Remove” I will remove the duck from the Duck Pond (and can then put it back on the farm). After some rearranging, here are the ducks now standing on the rocks:

And this is how the Duck Pond now looks on the farm:

Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

Only these five ducks will show up on the farm this way, so you can easily choose which ducks you want to show off.

Finally, you can harvest the Duck Pond once every twenty-four (24) hours for coins. Soon enough we will be adding the ability to breed new ducks, so stay tuned!

The New Years Ball Drop / Party Barn 2011 Guide

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

The New Year is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate it then with your friends and neighbors in FarmVille? We’re providing you a way to do just that with our New Years Ball Drop and Party Barn. It’s party time in FarmVille and you’re all invited!

[winteritems7]

The Party Barn is where you’ll be hosting your party—just build it up, then invite your neighbors over for the big party. The more neighbors you invite, the better the prizes you get (there’s no redeeming for this shindig, you automatically get the prize). Then on New Years the ball drops!

Party Prep Work

You’ll get the frame for the Party Barn for free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Party Barn frame on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later. You can be any level to place the Party Barn.

The New Years Ball Party Barn is a constructible building, so you’ll need a grand total of 24 parts (8 bricks, 8 nails and 8 wooden boards) to finish it:
[winteritems7]

Like other constructible buildings, you can acquire these parts by:

  • Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For More” button for each type of part).
  • Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.
  • Acquire individual parts by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Buy” button for that particular part). Each part is 1 Farm Cash.
  • Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building). The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the amount of parts left needed to finish the building.
  • Parts awarded through Special Delivery Boxes.
  • Using individual parts available in your Gift Box.

When you first place the Party Barn on your farm it’ll look fairly lifeless and boring:

There’s no party. However, once you get it fully constructed you can now see where the party will be doing down:

[winteritems7]

You can only have one Party Barn on your farm at any one time. If you happen to sell your Party Barn or never got one, you can buy a new Party Barn frame in the Market under the Buildings tab before the end of the promotion (it should be under “New Years Ball”). The cost is 5,000 coins.

Getting the Party Started

Now you really need to invite some neighbors over for a real party. Well, you can invite them over before the Party Barn is fully built as well, but it won’t be as fun. Click on the Party Barn and select “Go to Party!”

[winteritems7]

With this display you can see how the party is going in the “Progress” tab. Right now, not too well—there’s no one to keep the pig and duck company. You can change that by clicking on the “View Guess List” tab. From here you’ll see all your FarmVille neighbors and friends all lined up, ready to be invited:

Click on the “Share” button under the ones you want to invite, and you’ll be prompted to make a post to their wall. A purple “Invited” label will appear over their profile picture if they’ve been invited, and if they’ve accepted you’ll see a green checkmark and a “Coming” label under their profile picture.

Once they accept, you will see their avatar on your farm, standing next to the Party Barn (this shows they’ve accepted your RSVP—you can click on them and the avatar will go away). When you look in your Party Barn you can see them in all their glory on the party floor! Note that if the people you invite are not your FarmVille neighbors (but friends that play), a default avatar will be shown on the party floor. Now’s a good time to become neighbors!
[winteritems7]
You will also see a button below your neighbors/friends display asking if you want to make use of extended permissions called “Allow Permissions”. By allowing this setting this will allow you to post feeds on neighbor’s walls without another prompt—it’s automatic as soon as you hit the “Share” button.

As your participants increase, you will unlock the special prizes available for the Ball Drop. No you don’t need to collect items and redeem them for these prizes; you get them automatically as you add partygoers (they’ll get added to your Gift Box).

[winteritems7]

After the Party Ends

You won’t be able to invite people to your New Years Ball Drop after January 1, though you will still be able to access it, re-watch the Ball Drop, or purchase the prizes in the Market for the month of January (if not longer). You also won’t be able to purchase a Party Barn frame in the Market. It will be storable, however.

Coupled together with the introduction of the Winter Workshop, the Winter Wonderland Quest is a mission to make your farm into a beautiful wonderland. And you’ll get some cool gifts for finishing this multi-stage quest, so why not get started?

You can see the quest icon at the lower left-hand side of the game. It’ll look something like this:

Click on the quest icon will bring up the quest window, which will display your current quest, your quest progress and objectives. The first Winter Wonderland Quest window looks like this:

As shown, the quest objectives are to:

  • Place a Winter Workshop on your farm and
  • Buy 1 Candy Arch, which you can get in the Market.

You’ll see a green checkmark by the objectives you’ve already finished. You can click “Okay” to close the window; the icon will still appear on the lower left.

Once these objectives are all reached you’ll see the completion window:

And once you close that window, the prizes will automatically be given to you (in this instance, the Pine Tree will go into your Gift Box) and you’ll return to your farm. You also have the option to Share the special gift (the Pine Tree) with your friends by making a post to your feed.

A new icon will show up if there is a next part to the Winter Wonderland Quest (there are a few more to do):
[winteritems]

Here you can see three quest objectives; for this one you can see I’ve already added some parts to my Winter Workshop but haven’t gotten the new snow blanket for my farm, or acquired the holiday lights. For these, you can see that you have the option of posting a request to your feed, asking for Holiday Lights (“Ask Friends”) or you can simply purchase these lights for 10 Farm Cash (“Skip FV 10”). These should show up in your Gift Box (they won’t be immediately credited against the quest objective if you get them from friends).

The rest of the Winter Wonderland Quests are similar in structure, but we don’t want to give it all away—you should experience it for yourself!

FarmVille Podcast – Nov 5th:

Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases and you guys will all be getting a sneak peek of what is coming to FarmVille in the near future.

This week we will be spending a majority of the Podcast discussing our new Orchards, however before we get into the details of our latest releases, I would like to give a huge thank you to all of the members of our community who participated in the various Halloween contests we have had running over the past few weeks. The FarmVille team was hugely impressed with the effort and time that went into all of the entries for the Decorating contest, the costume contest and the pumpkin carving contest this year.
Congratulations again to all of our winners, and if anyone would like to check out our winning entries, please make sure to visit the “discussions” section of the Official FarmVille Forums. As a reminder, all of our winners will be walking away with 500 Farm Cash and half a million coins, so make sure to enter our next community contest for your chance to win big.

Alright, so the past few weeks were filled with great new Limited Edition items that all of our players have seemed to enjoy, including the new Halloween items and the return of the Country Fair items. Your original favorites from this theme have made another appearance along with some great new items to add to your collection. The Country Fair items can now be found in the Marketplace for a limited time only, so make sure to grab some before they disappear.

By now, most of our players will have had a chance to briefly check out our latest big release, the new Orchards. However, since this feature was only released yesterday, I would like to go over some of the finer points with you guys to help you understand the benefits of using this new mechanic.
With the introduction of Orchards farmers can now group their trees into a new type of building that can be harvested for special mystery seeds. Tree Mastery has also been added for those who truly love their trees. Unlike other buildings where you can place items inside, all of the different trees are visible within, so you can make colorful and unique displays.

You’ll get your first Orchard frame for free the first time you play FarmVille after it updates, and will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Orchard frame on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later. There are no level restrictions for the Orchard.

The Orchard is a constructable building, so you’ll need a grand total of 30 parts to finish it. Like other constructable buildings, you can ask your neighbors for these parts by posting to your feed or by purchasing them with Farm Cash.

Once an Orchard is fully complete, you can choose to start building another one by buying an incomplete Orchard frame in the Market (for 1,000 coins) or a fully complete Orchard ( for 30 Farm Cash). You can have as many Orchards as you have farm space for, provided you are building only one at a time.

Each Orchard can hold up to 20 trees, which you can move into the Orchard simply by clicking on tree, selecting Move, and then clicking on the Orchard you want to move the tree in to. Visually the Orchard will show each of the individual trees you put into it. You cannot directly choose where the trees are placed in the Orchard, but you can choose the order by which they go into the Orchard, and that order determines how the Orchards look visibly.
This means that the look of the Orchard can change wildly depending on the trees you put into it. Orchards can also be lined up and arrayed quite easily, so making large colorful displays is entirely possible.

Now, your Orchard will be harvestable once every 48 hours. When you harvest it, you’ll gain the total amount of coins each of the trees would normally give during a harvest if they were placed individually on the farm.

Harvesting an Orchard may also give you a Mystery Seed. When this happens you’ll get a notice, and the Mystery Seed will be placed in your Gift Box. The Mystery Seed is a new tree—the exact identity of the type of tree depends on the makeup of the Orchard. For example, if your Orchard has 15 Apricot Trees and 5 Guava Trees, chances are the Orchard will produce an Apricot seedling rather than a Guava seedling. In addition, the Mystery Seed is an upgraded version of tree that produced it. To continue the example used above, if the seedling comes from an Apricot tree then it will produce an Apricot Golden tree (a Level 2 tree). Note that some Level 2 trees may already be available in FarmVille in one form or another, and they do not produce anything better than Level 2 trees (there are no Level 3 trees… yet). That doesn’t mean you can’t have them in your Orchard though!

You won’t know what kind of tree it is until it’s fully grown. In order to grow a Mystery Seed into a tree, you’ll need to first place it on the farm and then water it ten times. You can gift individual Water Cans through the Free Gifts page (and that’s how you can receive them from your neighbors), or you can buy them from the Market for 1 Farm Cash each. To water the sapling, simply click on it and choose the Watering option (if you don’t have any Water Cans, you can use the menu to ask or buy for more).

Once watered ten times, the Mystery Seed will now be fully grown into the new tree. This new tree acts like any other tree—you can harvest it individually, move it, or put it back into the Orchard.

Harvesting trees will also now contribute to Tree Mastery! That’s right, you can now Master all of the different Tree types and receive Mastery Signs for them. In this fashion they work just like crop mastery—each time you harvest a tree it leads towards mastery of that tree (whether the tree is on the farm or in an Orchard). You can earn 3 stars for each tree type, which is also reflected in the Tree Mastery Sign (which you’ll earn for getting the first star for that tree). Level 1 and Level 2 trees are both masterable. Once you’ve harvested a tree type enough to get the first star, you’ll see a reward window and the Mastery Sign will show up in your Gift Box.

You can check on how far along your Mastery is in a couple of ways. When you look inside the Orchard you can see how many stars you’ve earned for each tree as well as the progress bar that shows how far you have to go to get the next star. You can see the same level of information by clicking on the revised “Collections” button in the UI menu on the bottom right.

Since this is a relatively big feature, we would love to hear your thoughts and feedback. If you have any opinions you would like to share with us, please make sure to visit the official FarmVille forums to let us know what you have to say.

And on that note, it’s time for everyone’s favorite part of the podcast… all of our awesome listeners are going to get a sneak peek of what is coming to FarmVille in the near future.

First up is the new Turkey Roost. The Turkey roost is a Limited Edition constructible building that lets players house their turkeys, as the name suggests. Players can expand their roosts twice to house up to 40 turkeys in total. When harvesting your roost you will have a chance of receiving baby turkeys to share, or an item that can be used in the upcoming thanksgiving holiday basket feature.

And last on the list this week is the new buildable Funhouse decoration, that will go wonderfully with the country fair theme. This building will be available for farm cash or it can be constructed with building components received from your friends and neighbors. As one of the designers said to me when giving me details about this new feature “it’s pretty sweet decoration”, so make sure to keep on the lookout for both of these releases in the coming weeks.

Alright folks, that’s it from me this week. I will be back on the 19th to bring you all of the latest news and information from around the farm. Again, my name is Lexilicious and I would like to thank everyone for listening. Happy Farming everybody!
