FarmVille Podcast – Dec 6th:

Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the official FarmVille podcast. My name is Lexilicious, and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases, and you guys will all be getting sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the near future.

Now, before we get into discussing all of our newest features, I would like to give a quick thank you to all of the players who participated in the FarmVille Dessert Contest. We challenged everyone to bring FarmVille to life with ovens, flour and just a sprinkle of creativity. Well Farmers, you rose to the challenge like true baking champions. The cooks in our Dessert Contest whipped up some of the most creative and edible works of art we’ve ever seen. Choosing the winners of this contest was no easy task, but after much deliberation, the FarmVille Team decided upon the most creative, delicious and well presented FarmVille desserts. If you would like to check out our winning entries, please visit the official Farmville forums and congratulations again to our winners who will be walking away with 1000 Farm Cash and 1,000,000 Coins. Remember Farmers, these contests are a great way to showcase your talent and earn some extra farm cash, so make sure to enter next time for your chance to win big.

So the past couple of weeks for FarmVille have been absolutely packed with new features. From great new Winter Holiday themed items to brand new features, FarmVille has been going all out to celebrate the holidays this year.
First up was the release of the Winter Workshop. This new constructable building is the first major step to our FarmVille holiday season and soon enough you’ll be able to harvest special Holiday Gifts from the Winter Workshop for special use later. But first, however, just worry about getting them built as much as you can.

You’ll get the base for the Winter Workshop for free the first time you play FarmVille, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Winter Workshop base on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later.

You’ll only be able to have one Winter Workshop at a time. If you sell yours and want another, you can find it in the Market for 5,000 coins. You’ll need to be level 5 in order to place and use the Winter Workshop.

Now, the basic Winter Workshop looks pretty but you’ll need to level it first before you can start using it to collect Holiday Gifts. To level your workshop, you will need to collect parts like our other constructible buildings. You can acquire these parts via the free gifts page, farm cash, special delivery boxes and neighbor requests.

Harvesting for Holiday Gifts will begin soon, so make sure to finish constructing those workshops soon.

Our other big feature this week was the release of quests. Now, this feature is currently only available to a randomly selected group of users, but I want to give everyone a quick explanation of how this release works so users who do have it understand the benefits, and players who don’t can be better prepared once it arrives.

Coupled together with the introduction of the Winter Workshop, the Winter Wonderland Quest is a mission to make your farm into a beautiful wonderland and earn some cool gifts along the way. To get started, click the quest icon located at the lower left-hand side of the game.

Clicking on this icon will bring up the quest window, which will display your current quest, your quest progress and objectives. Your first quest objectives are to Place a Winter Workshop on your farm and buy one Candy Arch from the Market.

You’ll see a green checkmark by the objectives you’ve already finished. Once you complete these objectives, you will be awarded a prize. The prizes will automatically be awarded to you and you’ll return to your farm. You also have the option to Share the special gift with your friends by making a post to your feed.

A new icon will show up if there is another quest to complete. Your next quest’s objectives are to change your landscape to the snow blanket, place 4 parts in your workshop and acquire holiday lights from your Neighbors. Once you complete this quest, you will receive a special reward. Now, the rest of the Winter Wonderland Quests are all similar in structure to the ones I’ve just explained. Now, I don’t want to give away all of the surprises, so get out there and start questing today. If you are in need of any additional information about this feature, or you have feedback that you would like to share with us, please make sure to visit the “Game Updates” section of the Official FarmVille forums.

Alright! So this week’s coming soon segment will actually give you guys a little bit more insight into a feature I know everyone has been waiting for. This year’s holiday tree will be making an appearance in FarmVille soon, but it works a little bit differently this year.

You will need to collect holiday gifts from your Neighbors and place them into your tree. As you add more gifts, the tree will grow and change in appearance. As you collect gifts, you will be able to redeem your gifts for special prizes along the way as you unlock them. Similar to how the Haunted House could be used to collect Candy, the Winter Workshop will become harvestable for holiday gifts once the tree is released.

Keeping with the holiday spirit, when you redeem a special prize, instead of sharing an extra one via your feed as per usual, we’re going to let you pick which friends you would like to send it to as a present. Players who participate in this feature may also see a special present from Zynga this year, so make sure to keep an eye out for this release in the near future.
And lastly, we have the new snowman feature coming to farmville in the coming weeks. Players will be able to have snowball fights with their friends by visiting their farms or joining in on other friends snowball fights. With all of that snow being thrown, you will eventually end up with a big pile of it. You can use this pile of snow to build a Snowman, that may even dance for you if you can find the right item for it.

Alright folks, that’s it from me this week. Again, my name is Lexilicious and I will be back on December 17th to bring you all of the latest news from around the Farm. Happy Farming everybody!

FarmVille Podcast – Nov 5th:

Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases and you guys will all be getting a sneak peek of what is coming to FarmVille in the near future.

This week we will be spending a majority of the Podcast discussing our new Orchards, however before we get into the details of our latest releases, I would like to give a huge thank you to all of the members of our community who participated in the various Halloween contests we have had running over the past few weeks. The FarmVille team was hugely impressed with the effort and time that went into all of the entries for the Decorating contest, the costume contest and the pumpkin carving contest this year.
Congratulations again to all of our winners, and if anyone would like to check out our winning entries, please make sure to visit the “discussions” section of the Official FarmVille Forums. As a reminder, all of our winners will be walking away with 500 Farm Cash and half a million coins, so make sure to enter our next community contest for your chance to win big.

Alright, so the past few weeks were filled with great new Limited Edition items that all of our players have seemed to enjoy, including the new Halloween items and the return of the Country Fair items. Your original favorites from this theme have made another appearance along with some great new items to add to your collection. The Country Fair items can now be found in the Marketplace for a limited time only, so make sure to grab some before they disappear.

By now, most of our players will have had a chance to briefly check out our latest big release, the new Orchards. However, since this feature was only released yesterday, I would like to go over some of the finer points with you guys to help you understand the benefits of using this new mechanic.
With the introduction of Orchards farmers can now group their trees into a new type of building that can be harvested for special mystery seeds. Tree Mastery has also been added for those who truly love their trees. Unlike other buildings where you can place items inside, all of the different trees are visible within, so you can make colorful and unique displays.

You’ll get your first Orchard frame for free the first time you play FarmVille after it updates, and will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Orchard frame on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later. There are no level restrictions for the Orchard.

The Orchard is a constructable building, so you’ll need a grand total of 30 parts to finish it. Like other constructable buildings, you can ask your neighbors for these parts by posting to your feed or by purchasing them with Farm Cash.

Once an Orchard is fully complete, you can choose to start building another one by buying an incomplete Orchard frame in the Market (for 1,000 coins) or a fully complete Orchard ( for 30 Farm Cash). You can have as many Orchards as you have farm space for, provided you are building only one at a time.

Each Orchard can hold up to 20 trees, which you can move into the Orchard simply by clicking on tree, selecting Move, and then clicking on the Orchard you want to move the tree in to. Visually the Orchard will show each of the individual trees you put into it. You cannot directly choose where the trees are placed in the Orchard, but you can choose the order by which they go into the Orchard, and that order determines how the Orchards look visibly.
This means that the look of the Orchard can change wildly depending on the trees you put into it. Orchards can also be lined up and arrayed quite easily, so making large colorful displays is entirely possible.

Now, your Orchard will be harvestable once every 48 hours. When you harvest it, you’ll gain the total amount of coins each of the trees would normally give during a harvest if they were placed individually on the farm.

Harvesting an Orchard may also give you a Mystery Seed. When this happens you’ll get a notice, and the Mystery Seed will be placed in your Gift Box. The Mystery Seed is a new tree—the exact identity of the type of tree depends on the makeup of the Orchard. For example, if your Orchard has 15 Apricot Trees and 5 Guava Trees, chances are the Orchard will produce an Apricot seedling rather than a Guava seedling. In addition, the Mystery Seed is an upgraded version of tree that produced it. To continue the example used above, if the seedling comes from an Apricot tree then it will produce an Apricot Golden tree (a Level 2 tree). Note that some Level 2 trees may already be available in FarmVille in one form or another, and they do not produce anything better than Level 2 trees (there are no Level 3 trees… yet). That doesn’t mean you can’t have them in your Orchard though!

You won’t know what kind of tree it is until it’s fully grown. In order to grow a Mystery Seed into a tree, you’ll need to first place it on the farm and then water it ten times. You can gift individual Water Cans through the Free Gifts page (and that’s how you can receive them from your neighbors), or you can buy them from the Market for 1 Farm Cash each. To water the sapling, simply click on it and choose the Watering option (if you don’t have any Water Cans, you can use the menu to ask or buy for more).

Once watered ten times, the Mystery Seed will now be fully grown into the new tree. This new tree acts like any other tree—you can harvest it individually, move it, or put it back into the Orchard.

Harvesting trees will also now contribute to Tree Mastery! That’s right, you can now Master all of the different Tree types and receive Mastery Signs for them. In this fashion they work just like crop mastery—each time you harvest a tree it leads towards mastery of that tree (whether the tree is on the farm or in an Orchard). You can earn 3 stars for each tree type, which is also reflected in the Tree Mastery Sign (which you’ll earn for getting the first star for that tree). Level 1 and Level 2 trees are both masterable. Once you’ve harvested a tree type enough to get the first star, you’ll see a reward window and the Mastery Sign will show up in your Gift Box.

You can check on how far along your Mastery is in a couple of ways. When you look inside the Orchard you can see how many stars you’ve earned for each tree as well as the progress bar that shows how far you have to go to get the next star. You can see the same level of information by clicking on the revised “Collections” button in the UI menu on the bottom right.

Since this is a relatively big feature, we would love to hear your thoughts and feedback. If you have any opinions you would like to share with us, please make sure to visit the official FarmVille forums to let us know what you have to say.

And on that note, it’s time for everyone’s favorite part of the podcast… all of our awesome listeners are going to get a sneak peek of what is coming to FarmVille in the near future.

First up is the new Turkey Roost. The Turkey roost is a Limited Edition constructible building that lets players house their turkeys, as the name suggests. Players can expand their roosts twice to house up to 40 turkeys in total. When harvesting your roost you will have a chance of receiving baby turkeys to share, or an item that can be used in the upcoming thanksgiving holiday basket feature.

And last on the list this week is the new buildable Funhouse decoration, that will go wonderfully with the country fair theme. This building will be available for farm cash or it can be constructed with building components received from your friends and neighbors. As one of the designers said to me when giving me details about this new feature “it’s pretty sweet decoration”, so make sure to keep on the lookout for both of these releases in the coming weeks.

Alright folks, that’s it from me this week. I will be back on the 19th to bring you all of the latest news and information from around the farm. Again, my name is Lexilicious and I would like to thank everyone for listening. Happy Farming everybody!

FarmVille Podcast – October 23rd:

Hey Farmers, and welcome to this week’s installment of the official FarmVille podcast! My name is Grimwell, and I’m filling in for Lexilicious during this week’s Podcast, and over the next few minutes I’ll be bringing you the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga.

FarmVille continues to celebrate Halloween in a big way this year, and we’re glad players are enjoying their Haunted Houses and Candy collections! Be sure to redeem your candy for exclusive items through the Halloween Basket like the Candied Gnome, Bat Tree, and Pumpkin House! Though most farmers seemed satisfied treating each other, we knew it wouldn’t be Trick or Treating without the tricks. You can now trick your neighbors on their farms by covering their barns, fences, and trees with cobwebs, or turn their animals into ghosts. Tricking can be done 5 times on each of your neighbor’s farms, and these tricks can be Accepted or Declined by your neighbors like most visitor actions. You can also purchase a Spooky Effect for 2 Farm Cash that lets you play tricks on your own farm for decorating purposes.

We’ve prepared a spooky assortment of items to choose from in this year’s Halloween Limited Edition theme. Some old favorites from last year’s event have crept their way back into the marketplace, like the Cat-O’-Lantern and infamous Plant Monster. We’ve taken your feedback on some of these past favorites into consideration for our new additions, like the Palm Monster, Haunted Tower, the nefarious Count Duckula, and the Ghost Gnome, and we’ve even brought back last year’s Haunted House by popular request! Also be sure to check the Free Gifts tab for even more Halloween goodies you can pass on to your neighbors.

While keeping Halloween on the farm filled with tricks and treats, we’ve also greatly improved the Character Customization system. You can now create a whole new look for your farmer by customizing their pants, shoes, shirts, whole outfit, and other accessories like glasses and hats. You also have the option of dressing your character up in Costume for Halloween! Click on the costume list to choose from over 30 different costumes like the Astronaut, Sheep, Ghost, Ninja, and Vampire, and my favorite: The Ugly Duckling. For our avid collectors, a ribbon is also available for clothing purchases. Be sure to purchase your Halloween costumes soon, as they’ll no longer be available for purchase after the holiday theme expires! And to answer a question on many of your minds: Yes, those of you who purchased their costume during the Halloween event will be able to keep it and wear it after Halloween. You just won’t be able to buy them again until next year.

If you’re a U.S. Player and haven’t used the giant blimp in your gift box yet, you’re missing out on wither protection for your crops! The in-game Farmers Insurance Airship is part of FarmVille’s U.S. exclusive program with Farmers Insurance. For as long as the airship is placed on your farm, Farmers Insurance will protect any crop from withering! But don’t wait to place it on your farm, as the promotion will expire on October 28th.

In mobile news, FarmVille is now available as a native application on the iPad! This version makes use of the iPad’s large display to show more of the farm and an improved mobile user interface. Best of all—the iPad version of FarmVille is free through the Apple app store. And for those of you who do play FarmVille on your Apple device, be sure to look for new exclusive, Apply-only gifts that you can send to your friends.

If you still haven’t taken advantage of our upcoming content videos on the new FarmVille Youtube channel, be sure to have a look! For the release of each major theme, you’ll find previews like our Halloween Limited Edition showcase, featuring animations of our new Halloween items. You can view this, and other FarmVille videos, at youtube.com/Farmville.

As the FarmVille Team receives thousands of questions from players a week, I’ll now be taking a moment to address a few of them.

We’ll start with a question from whitede8, which asks: “Is there a technical issue which prohibits users from purchasing only 1 chicken coop?” Well, the answer is yes, and if you had more than one Nursery Ban recently, you might even know why. The game looks for just one chicken coop, and if we do anything to the building, having more than one coop can cause all kinds of problems in FarmVille, including the possibility of lost chickens, which is something we don’t want to let happen to players!

In a related question, MEHogan asks: “When are you going to allow us to purchase more chicken coops or expand the one we have. My chicken coop is expanded to 60 and is full. I probably have another 60 outside my chicken coop. I would love to be able to harvest more eggs by having another chicken coop.” Well, MEHogan, for reasons I answered to whited8, we can’t have more than one chicken coop on the farm, but we do know that people love having animals in buildings and harvesting them. So the FarmVille team is looking into ways we can let you have bigger chicken coops, because we know you’d like it! Keep listening to future podcasts, because if we can do it, we’re going to tell you first here!

And now for our next question from shecop1992: “I would like to know when an expansion will be made available. I am running out of room on my farm and my storage is filling up fast.” Well shecop1992, we’re constantly looking for new ways in FarmVille to give you more space and storage, but we need to make sure it’s going to be in a way that works great for everyone. If we offer more space in the future, we would like it to be in a way that does not slow performance for players.

snowqueen1426 asks: “Will we have sweet potatoes?…Endive… or collard greens”? That’s a great question, and the FarmVille team is constantly looking at options for new crops that fit our new themes as well as player input. Please continue to make your suggestions for new crops and you never know when we going to pick yours!

And now for our last question from holp, who asks: “Will the ‘Country Fair Event’ be returning to Farmville this fall? I know many many farmers would love to see this event return, many of us where disappointed that it was not part of the 7days of summer….” Well holp, all I’m going to say for the answer to this is stay tuned, because I think we have good news for you in the future!

If you have a question you would like answered by the FarmVille team on our weekly podcast, please make sure to visit the Official FarmVille Forums for more information on how to participate.

So let’s take a look at the future of FarmVille. In our last installment, Voltai announced Tree Orchards would be coming soon. There has been a lot of speculation about what they are, how they look, and what you’ll be able to get out of them.

Orchards will be a constructed building. You’ll be able to place up to 20 trees in each Orchard, and you can have more than one. The appearance of each Orchard will depend on the trees you put inside it! You will be able to harvest Orchards once a day for coins with a chance to receive a Mystery Seed. These can grow into any type of tree in your Orchard, and must be planted on watered before they mature into they mature into fully grown, upgraded versions of their parent trees!
Enhanced trees will be a part of the Tree Mastery system. You will be able to progress as you harvest Orchards or individual trees, and there will be three levels of mastery with rewards for each level of mastery completion. Level 3 mastery will also grant a unique mastery sign!

And now let’s discuss a completely new feature: Gifted Limited Edition Seeds! That’s right, you’re going to be able to gift your neighbors packets of 20 seeds. Once accepted, the seeds will be found on the Marketplace window. You can plant these seeds on your farm like a normal crop, and yes, you will be able to master them, and they’ll also be available for Farm Cash if you don’t want to gift.

Look for the Black Rose crop coming soon for Halloween as the first giftable Limited Edition seed crop to learn more about how they’ll work.

That’s all for this week, Farmers! Thanks for listening! The next podcast will be hosted on November 5th, and may be the return of Lexilicious, in addition to all the latest news and information for FarmVille.

Happy Farming!

FarmVille Podcast – October 8th:

Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Voltai, and I’ll be filling in for Lexilicious over this installment and the next. This week we’re bringing you all the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga.

The Germany and Oktoberfest Limited Edition themes are coming to a close to make room for the new Autumn theme, which includes beautiful, fall-colored buildings, decorations, and animals. We’ve heard about how much you enjoy connectible items, and we have been listening. These items also tie in with the start of our Halloween celebration that was kicked off with the Haunted House. It’s a multi-stage building that becomes larger and spookier as you build. You’ll have an “Eerie” Haunted House at Level 1, a “Frightening” Haunted House for Level 2, and a “Spine-Chilling” Haunted House for Level 3. You’re able to Trick or Treat by clicking on a neighbor’s completed Haunted House during a visit and obtain candies; be sure to hold onto these and they will be used in later additions to the Halloween event.

We also have a few more Halloween goodies in store. Save those Halloween candies for the Halloween Candy Basket, because soon you’ll be able to trade them for items. Of course treating is only half the fun, so you’ll also be able to trick your neighbor with cobwebs, and even turn their animals into ghosts! These can be accepted or dismissed like other neighbor actions, but will only cause visual changes if you accept them.

We hope you were able to participate in the McDonald’s promotion this week. For a 24-hour period, players could visit a McDonald’s-themed farm to help them and fertilize their crops and would receive two special prizes: a McDonald’s Hot Air Balloon and McCafe day-long speed boost for their character.

Last week marked the end to our Community event for The School of Choice in Haiti. With your help, we’ve raised one million dollars to complete the school, and are very proud of what we were able to accomplish together! As a show of thanks, each participant received a congratulatory Hot Air Balloon in their Gift Box.

You may have noticed we’ve been linking our Podcasts to the new FarmVille Youtube channel. Aside from podcasts, it also features animated videos of our new releases so you can see them in action before you buy. You’ll see a few examples from previous releases by visiting youtube.com/farmville.
We know a lot of our players have been waiting for the Combine Vehicle, and if you haven’t started building yours yet and can, be sure to do so. The combine is a vehicle that harvests, plows, and seeds all at once! You’ll need 40 Vehicle Parts to build it up from the Combine Chassis you place on your farm for 500,000 coins, and is then upgradable like every other vehicle. Once built, you simply click the combine icon, select the seed you wish to plant and click on the desired farm plots. The Super Combine works on both plots with or without harvestable crops on them.

Now for the Coming Soon segment of this week’s podcast:

As part of the Halloween event, we’ll be releasing Halloween costumes for your FarmVille character. We’ll also be releasing the Feed Trough—a farm building that comes pre-built that you fill up with animal feed to attract adoptable animals to your farm!

And one last thing to mention: we’ve hinted to it on the forums today, and are pleased to announce that Tree Orchards are in the works! While we can’t share much with you today, we’d like to encourage everyone to visit the FarmVille forums and vote on the poll showcasing four tree mastery signs. We’ll be taking your opinions into consideration for the final product that will become a feature for the Orchard. That’s all for this week, Farmers! The next podcast will be hosted on the 22nd to bring you all of the latest news and information from around the Farm.

Happy Farming everybody!

Farmville Podcast: August 27th

FarmVille Podcast – August 28th:

Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the Official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases and you guys will all be getting a sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the near future!

One of this week’s most exciting releases was the long awaited Pigpen feature. Pigpens are FarmVille’s newest constructable Animal Building that will allow you to store up to 20 of your Pigs at a time. If you are level 16 or above, you will be able to place the Pigpen foundation on your farm upon logging in. Alternatively, you can also purchase the Pigpen frame from the Market for 5,000 coins. In order to use your Pigpen, you’ll need to finish building it. Selecting ‘Look Inside’ from your foundation’s menu will show you what you need to complete your Pigpen.

Neighbors can send you the materials you need to construct your Pigpen from the Free Gifts Page, or you can click the “ask for more” button from the pen’s menu. When neighbors send you materials, they work exactly like any other free gift. After you accept the gift it will appear in your gift box. After clicking the “use” button under the gift it will automatically be added to your Pigpen.

Alternatively, if at any time during your construction process you decide that you’d rather simply purchase the materials required for the pen, you can do so by clicking the “Buy” button from the Pigpen’s menu. Every 24 hours, you’ll be able to collect from the pigs stored in your Pigpen and you may only have one pigpen on your farm at a time.

As I said in last week’s podcast, there will be additional functionality added to the Pigpen in the coming weeks. If you have any feedback you would like to share with us about the first version of Pigpens, please make sure to visit the official FarmVille forums and let us know what you think.

In addition to pigpens, Farmville’s newest feature allows you to proudly display your accomplishments! Crafting Recipe Mastery has just been released and will reward you will Experience Points, Coins and Mastery Signs for all of your Neighbors to see! Now, you don’t need to do anything extra to start gaining levels of crafting Mastery, you just need to continue making goods at your crafting building. As your recipe level increases, you will unlock greater levels of mastery, and get an XP and coin bonus for doing so. Of course many of you have already achieved fairly high levels with some of your recipes. The appropriate Mastery stars will be automatically awarded to you for each recipe, as well as the XP and Coin rewards that accompany those Mastery stars. Mastery signs will all be placed in your gift box. You’ll also get a pop-up notice of this the first time you open your Market Stall or Crafting Building. If you are looking for a little more information on how the details of this feature works, please make sure to visit the Game Updates section of the forums for more information.

And lastly, our first installment of the Wild West Theme made and appearance this week, bringing with is some great new animals, decorations and buildings for you to decorate your farm with. The Wild West theme looks very different from any other theme we have released in the past and it is perfect for our farmers who may have a little bit of a wild side.

Now before I get into our coming soon segment this week, our friends from the iphone FarmVille team wanted me to give all of you a quick reminder about the “where do you mobile farm” photo contest. This great event ends at 11:59 pm on August 31st and you can win up to 500 farm cash for participating! All you guys have to do is take a picture of yourself playing FarmVille on your mobile device and you can win big. Head on over to the FarmVille Mobile forums for more information on this event and make sure to participate while you can!

Alright! On that note, let’s go ahead and get into the part of the podcast I know all of you skip forward to hear… it’s time for a sneak peek as to what will be coming to FarmVille in the near future.

Well, first up this week is something I know our breeders will be very excited about… Nursery barn expansion will be making its way to Farmville in the coming weeks. Along with this will be a new Wild West themed Mystery Game and more Wild West items.

And lastly, we will soon have new and improved Neighbor visits for all of our players. With the new visit system, you will be able to do more on your friend’s farms besides fertilizing. Soon, you will be able to plow your Neighbors fallow plots, collect from their animals and harvest their trees.

When doing these actions on your Neighbors farms, you will gain coins and experience points for helping and your Neighbors will also receive the appropriate amount of XP and coins when they return.

Alright folks, well that’s it from me this week. I will be back next week with all of the latest news and information from around the farm. Again, my name is Lexi and I want to thank everyone for tuning in this week. Happy Farming everybody!

FarmVille Podcast – August 20th:

Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the Official FarmVille Podcast. My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information from around the Farm. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases, and you guys will all be getting a sneak peek of what is coming to FarmVille in the near future.

So this week, the long awaited Storage Cellar finally made an appearance, bringing with it some well deserved leg room. We have already seen some initial questions from players about how the new Storage Cellar feature works, so I am going to quickly go over some of the details of this feature for all of our listeners.

The new storage cellar will allow you to store up to 500 items on your Farm once it is fully expanded. If you are level 16 or above, The Storage Cellar can be found in your Gift Box, or it can be purchased from the Market for 10,000 coins. To get started with this feature, open your gift box and place the Cellar on your farm.

To expand your Storage Cellar, you will need to collect shovels from your friends. Each Shovel that you collect will count as 1 storage space in your new Cellar.

Neighbors can send you the Shovels you need to expand your storage from the Free Gifts Page, or you can click the “ask for more” button from the Cellar’s menu. Each gift sent to you from your Neighbors will grant you two Shovels. When neighbors send you Shovels, it works exactly like any other free gift. After you accept the gift it will appear in your gift box. After clicking the “use” button under the gift it will automatically be added to your Storage Cellar.

Alternatively, if at any time during your construction process you decide that you’d rather simply purchase the Shovels required for the Cellar, you can do so by clicking the “Buy Shovels” button from the Cellars’s menu. You can purchase Shovels in packs of 10 for 5 Farm Cash.

As I said earlier, with the release of the Storage Cellar, we have increased the total storage capacity to 500.

As all storage on your Farm is part of one shared inventory, if you already have items stored in other buildings, they will count towards the new 500 limit. For example, if you already have 100 items stored on your Farm in existing Storage Buildings, you will only be able to store 400 additional items in the Cellar once it is fully expanded.

If you choose to not use the Storage Cellar, your Storage limit will still have increased to the new limit of 500. However, using the Storage Cellar will take up less room and provide more storage than using existing Storage Buildings.

If you wish to transfer your items from your other Storage Buildings into the Cellar, you will first have to increase the capacity of the cellar to make room for the items. If you have enough room in your Cellar, you can simply delete your other Storage Buildings and the items will automatically be placed in your Cellar. However, you will not be able to delete a Storage Building if the number of items stored within is greater than the number of spaces you have available in your Storage Cellar.

In addition to storage, you can unlock new items by obtaining shovels. As you collect Shovels, you will also gain “points”. As you gain points for trading in Shovels, you will be able to unlock new items. Clicking the “progress” tab in your Cellar’s information page will show you what items you can redeem with your points. As you collect points, each item you can unlock will be revealed as you collect the proper amount, and the “redeem” button will become available for each item. Clicking “Redeem” will award you the gift in return for the proper amount of points.

One important thing to know about the Cellar is that once it is placed on your Farm, the Cellar cannot be sold or deleted. It can still be moved, but once you place the storage cellar on your farm it will be a permanent addition.

In addition to the Storage Cellar, our new Summer Theme also made an appearance this week, bringing with it all kinds of great new Limited Edition items for your Farm. Many of these new Limited Edition items have great animations and fit wonderfully with anyone who may have a New England Farm or a Beach themed Farm. If you are interested in purchasing any of these great new items, please make sure to head to the Market before they disappear.

Alright! And since this week was jam packed with new releases, we want to know what you think of our latest updates. The FarmVille team is always interested to hear your feedback, so if you have any opinions you would like to share with us, please make sure to visit the Official FarmVille Forums or www.farmville.com.

Alright! On that note, let’s go ahead and get into the coming soon segment of today’s podcast.

First up is a feature our community already seems very excited about. Pigpens will be making an appearance in FarmVille in the very near future. Now, Pigpens will be released in two separate phases. The first version of the Pigpens will introduce a contractible building that will offer you storage for any of those poor, homeless pigs you may have running around your farm. The second version of this update will introduce truffle hunting, a feature that will allow you to trade in truffles for new items. To gain truffles, you will have to feed your pigs slop, which can be made from bushels. Once your pigs eat their slop, they will hunt for truffles on your Neighbors Farms. These truffles can be traded for exciting new prizes, including new types of pigs!

In addition to this, I am very happy to announce that FarmVille will be doing another charitable campaign for the wonderful people of Haiti. This upcoming event will allow our users to help build a much needed school for the children of Haiti, and there will be opportunities for players to participate to this noble cause without having to pay money. The FarmVille Community Team will be providing more information about this campaign in the coming weeks, so please make sure to stay tuned for updates.

Greetings Farmers!

This week’s podcast is now live. Check it out to get information on our new features, as well as an exclusive sneak peek of things coming your way soon!

Please find the Transcript of this week’s podcast below:

Hey Farmers and welcome to this week’s installment of the Official FarmVille Podcast. My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information from around the Farm. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases, I will be answering some questions from members of the FarmVille Community and you guys will all be getting a sneak peek of what is coming to FarmVille in the near future.

As I am sure some of you know, the new Garage feature was released today. We will be spending most of this week’s podcast walking through this new feature which will provide some helpful tips for users who may still be trying to figure out the basics of our latest update.

Garages are used to store Tractors, Harvesters and Seeders. You can also use the Garage to upgrade your Vehicles so you can farm faster than ever before! If you are level 22 and above, you can purchase a Garage Frame from the Market for 50,000 Coins.

Building the Garage is very similar to building a Japanese Barn. To construct your Garage, you will need to collect 10 Boards, 10 Bricks and 10 Nails.
Once you have placed your Garage Frame, click on “look inside” from the Garage’s menu. Doing so will open a page that displays what you need to complete your Garage. Like any other constructible building, you can collect materials via the free gifts page, the “ask for more” button and with Farm Cash.

From the Free Gifts Page, your Neighbors will be able to send you one of the three types of building components to help you finish your Garage. When neighbors send you a building component, it works exactly like any other free gift. After you accept the gift it will appear in your gift box. After clicking the “use” button under the gift it will automatically be added to your Frame.
When viewing the interior of your unfinished Garage Frame, each component that you have not yet received 10 of has an ‘Ask For More’ button. When clicked, this will allow you to send Gift Requests to your friends for your chosen component.

If at any time during your construction process you decide that you’d rather simply purchase the individual items required for the Garage, you can do so by clicking the “buy” button underneath a component in the Garage’s menu. Alternatively, if you do not wish to buy the parts for the Garage individually, you can click the “Complete Now” button.

Once your Garage is complete, it can be used to hold up to 20 vehicles on your Farm. Completing your Garage also unlocks the ability to upgrade your Vehicles.

Upgrading your Vehicles will increase the amount of plots they affect. The higher level your Vehicle is, the more plots it will interact with when farming. Currently, the highest you can level your Vehicles to level 4.

Upgrading your vehicles requires Vehicle Parts. Vehicle parts can be obtained from friends via the “ask for more button” and with Farm Cash, like I explained earlier. Once you have parts, you can open your Garages menu to select which vehicle you would like to apply them to. All Vehicles that are stored in your Garage can still be used as normal. At this time, you may only have one Garage on your Farm and Biplanes cannot be stored in them, due to technical limitations.

This week was also an exciting week for LE releases. More New England items made their way to the Market, along the adorable new Mini Horse. The new Mini Mystery Game has also been a huge hit with the community, featuring mini versions of all of your favorite animals, including the new Mini Stallion. If you have not yet had a chance to play this week’s Mystery Game, make sure to head to the market to get some of these great animals before they disappear in a few days.

And as with all of our big features, we want to hear your feedback about this week’s updates! If you have any thoughts or opinions you would like to share with the FarmVille team regarding the new Garage feature or Limited Edition items, please make sure to visit the Official FarmVille Forums or www.farmville.com.

On that note, let’s go ahead and get into answering some questions from members of the FarmVille Community!

Our first question comes from 18835. “Where is the wandering stallion? If it is no longer available will you be providing a stallion for purchase?”

Late last week, we actually had a bug that was affecting the frequency of how many times the Wandering Stallion would appear. Earlier this week, we put in a fix for this bug and you should now be seeing Wandering Stallions as per normal.

Our next question comes to us from Cheshire Kitten. “Since the release of the crafting buildings, it seems like I have been getting fewer bushels when I harvest. Have the drop rates for bushels been lowered?”

The drop rates for bushels have not been altered since the release of Crafting Cottages. I think since bushels are in such high demand right now it may seem like you are getting less, but nothing has been changed with this feature. And since bushels are not guaranteed, it is also possible that you have just hit an unlucky spell lately. Just as a reminder, if you master your crops, you will receive additional bushels from those crop types. You can also purchase a total of 300 Bushels from your neighbors every 24 hours, so if you find that you can’t produce any of your own, try visiting your Neighbors Crafting Buildings for more.

And last but certainly not least, its time for you guys to get a sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the near future.

Starting early next week, FarmVille will be bringing back some of your favorite items for a very special sale. Each day next week, look in the Market for the return of some of your most requested Limited Edition themes. But you will have to be fast farmers… each theme will only be around for 24 hours. The Yukon and California Theme will be returning on Monday, the French Chateau Theme will be returning on Tuesday, the Adobe theme will be making an appearance on Wednesday, the Tuscany theme will be back on Thursday, the island theme will be back on Friday, Saturday will be the Japanese Garden them and Sunday will herald the return of the long lost UFO theme!

We will also be releasing a new Best of Mystery Animal Game in the near future, which will include rare animals like the hugely requested old White Owl!

And on that note, it’s time for me to get out of here Farmers. Again, my name is Lexi and I would like to thank all of our listeners for tuning in this week. We will be back next Friday with all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. Happy Farming everybody!
