Livestock Pen: Breed even more animals now!

The Livestock Pen is now available to breed more animals in FarmVille! Harvesting the animals inside the Livestock Pen counts towards Animal Mastery! And guess what? More animals in your Livestock Pen means more chances of finding new Animal Mystery Babies! Build your Livestock Pen and start growing these cute little animals today!

The Livestock Pen is the fifth of seven total new breeding buildings to be released.

Farmers with an Animal Trough will receive a message to replace it with a new Livestock Pen, Zoo, Pet Run or Wildlife Habitat. But do not fear, the Livestock Pen, the Zoo, the Pet Run, Wildlife Habitat, and other forthcoming breeding pens will offer you even more opportunities to claim Animals!

Breeding your Livestock Pen Animals:

You can breed a wide variety of Livestock Pen animals, such as goats, sheep, pigs, boars, alpacas, llamas, ewes, javelinas, potbellies, and longhorns.

Note: The Livestock Pen won’t store any sheep or pigs that you created by breeding with the Sheep Pen or Pigpen.

You don’t need pairs of animals to find a Mystery Baby; you just need one of any particular Animal in your Livestock Pen to have a chance of finding its Mystery Baby upon harvesting the Livestock Pen!

Placing the Livestock Pen:

You will need the following Building Materials to complete your Livestock Pen:

  • 10x Water Pump
  • 10x Wire
  • 10x Steel Beam

There are four ways of obtaining Building Materials:

  • Free Gifts Tab – Send a Free Gift to friends to help them with their building
  • Click on green button “Ask for Part” – Send requests for parts to any friend once every four hours
  • Click on the green button “Complete Now” – Use Farm Cash to complete Building immediately
  • Click on the green button “Buy” – Use Farm Cash to obtain that specific part

This is what your Livestock Pen will look like once it’s completed:

Upon completing your Livestock Pen, you will receive one free Red Goat:

You can store up to 20 animals in each Livestock Pen that you own. Like Orchards, you can have more than one Livestock Pen on your farm and can choose which Livestock Pen you would like to use to store a specific Livestock Pen animal.

Clicking on the Livestock Pen gives you the option to:

  • Look inside
  • Apply Instant Grow
  • Move
  • Sell

You can view all your current animals inside your Livestock Pen, including Animal Mastery status and quantity, when selecting the “Look Inside” option. You can also use Animal Instant Grow which will be applied to all animals inside the Livestock Pen:

Animals that are qualified for the Livestock Pen but are not placed inside the Livestock Pen (whether you own these animals or not) appear translucent:

Some animals are only available from the Market, while others are available from your friends. (Some animals will not be available at this time, but stay tuned as they may make a comeback in the future!) When looking Inside the Livestock Pen, the Mystery Babies that are available from Friends will have a small sunshine indicator when rolling your cursor over the animal. So keep an eye on your Newsfeed for Animals Mystery Babies from your friends!

The Mystery Babies that you can claim from your friends can include:

  • Mystery Babies: Mystery Babies (or “common” Mystery Babies) are orange cribs and include previous Coin animals, Lonely Animals, and Quest rewards.
  • Rare Mystery Babies: The Rare Mystery Babies are purple cribs and include previous Limited Edition items (but only ones worth less than 15 Farm Cash) and Common Mystery Game items.

Note: The information above applies only to Mystery Babies you claim from your friends! Any Mystery Baby that you find in your own Livestock Pen will grow up to be just like one of the animals that was in your Livestock Pen at the time of harvest! (To qualify to create a Mystery Baby, an animal must be in the Livestock Pen from before 10% harvest progress until the Livestock Pen is harvested.)

Harvesting your animals inside the Livestock Pen:

You will see a pink arrow above the Livestock Pen once it’s ready for harvest and an orange illumination around when hovering over:

When you harvest your Livestock Pen for coins and Animal Mastery, you have a chance to find a Mystery Baby! The more animals inside your Livestock Pen, the better your chances of finding a Mystery Baby upon harvest. When you find a Mystery Baby, you’ll have the option to share an extra one with your friends!

Keep a lookout in your Newsfeed for Mystery Babies that you can claim from your friends!
You don’t need pairs of animals to find a Mystery Baby from your own Livestock Pen; you just need one of any particular animals in your Livestock Pen to have a chance of finding its Mystery Baby upon harvesting the Livestock Pen!

When you don’t find a Mystery Baby upon harvest, you will find coins and Animal Feed, which you can share with your friends!

Mystery Baby Animals:

Mystery Babies grow up into rare or common animals; the color of the baby crib will tell you which is which: purple baby cribs are rare, and orange baby cribs are common.

When you find a Mystery Baby after harvest, you will be able to place the little baby on your farm. There will be a green illumination hovering over open areas on your farm:

After placing your new little baby on the farm, you will have five options:

  • Complete Now – Use Farm Cash to complete animal immediately
  • Feed Baby (requires Animal Feed)
  • Ask For Feed – Post your request to the Newsfeed where your friends can click the post and help send you Animal Feed
  • Move
  • Sell

When selecting “Ask For Feed”, you can ask your Friends to send Animal Feed. You will need 10 or 30 Animal Feeds to complete your baby, depending on whether the baby is common or rare:

You will be notified once your baby has grown up into an adult. Any Mystery Baby that you find in your own Livestock Pen will grow up to be just like one of the animals that was in your Livestock Pen at the time of harvest!

Don’t forget: To qualify to create a Mystery Baby, an animal must be in the Livestock Pen from before 10% harvest progress until the Livestock Pen is harvested.

When trying to move an animal, the appropriate Livestock Pen will illuminate in blue and then you can place inside:

Featured Animals:

The last three animals placed inside your Livestock Pen will be featured after exiting the “Look Inside” option:

We hope you enjoy breeding a greater variety of animals and continuing to collect your Animal Mastery signs!

FarmVille: Pot of Gold Official Guide

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

Been collecting all those special gold items for St. Patrick’s Day? Well the wait is over and the Pot of Gold is now available! Just put your collected Gold Pieces into it and then redeem them for St. Patrick’s Day-themed unique prizes!

.

You’ll get your somewhat empty-looking Pot of Gold free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Pot of Gold on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance).

Once the Pot of Gold is on the farm you can click on it, then select “Look Inside” to see this window:

The prizes that can be redeemed from the Pot of Gold can be seen below:

  • FarmVille Kelly Green Hay: 1 Gold Piece
  • FarmVille Clover Gnome: 10 Gold Pieces
  • FarmVille Clover Sheep: 20 Gold Pieces
  • FarmVille Clover Chicken: 50 Gold Pieces
  • FarmVille Lucky Fountain: 100 Gold Pieces
  • FarmVille Green Lighthouse:  200 Gold Pieces

The Pot of Gold works like many of our other item-gathering style events in FarmVille. You acquire Gold Pieces through various methods, then “Use” them to place them in your Pot of Gold. As you accumulate these items you can redeem them for exclusive items.

You can acquire Gold Pieces by:

  • Harvesting your Leprechaun’s Cottage.
  • Requesting Gold Pieces from your neighbors directly (by clicking on the “Ask for More” button).
  • Receive a Gold Piece from a neighbor who uses the Free Gifts page (or click on “Send Gold”).
  • Purchase 5 Gold Pieces at a time by clicking on the “Buy Gold” button (for 5 Farm Cash).
  • Click on a Pot of Gold-related feed from a neighbor.
  • Harvest a neighbor’s Leprechaun’s Cottage.

Advertisement: Mexican Theme 1: Jacaranda Tree, Verawood Tree, Azteca Horse, USA Flag Sheep, Mariachi Gnome, July Confetti Tree, Giant July Conffetti Tree, Mexian Farmhouse ($9.99)

Here are the five different types of Gold Pieces (note they all count as the same when you put them in the Pot of Gold):

As you put Gold Pieces in your Mailbox you’ll see the gold coin meter on the left fill up. The physical look of the pot also changes as you stuff it full of gold.

You can also click on the “Comparison” tab to compare how many Valentines you’ve accumulated with your neighbors.

To get one of the special exclusive prizes, simply click on the “Redeem” button next to the prize you want—if you have enough gold (the available amount of gold that is redeemable is at the top of the window) you’ll be asked to confirm the purchase.

If you hit “Accept” the prize will be stored in your Gift Box and you can share an extra prize with your friends.

Note: unlike a few of our previous item-gathering events, there will not be a second page of exclusive prizes added. These six items are pretty much it for this event.

That’s it for the Pot of Gold! Good luck!

Farmville: Greenhouse Guide

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

Please Note: This is a slow release and being rolled out to all the farmers.

Welcome to green world of crop experimentation and seeding! The Greenhouse is a multi-level constructible building that you can experiment to create up to ten new Masterable crop breeds.

The bigger the Greenhouse, the higher the amount of seeds you can start to produce. And you can get your friends to help speed up the experimentation process!

Building Your Greenhouse

First off, let’s not confuse the new Greenhouse with the old one that was available in the Market; the old Greenhouse has been renamed Glasshouse and had no actual functionality (other than looking nice). Similarly the Cube Greenhouse, available exclusively through FarmVille Mobile, is merely a decoration.

Everyone will get the new Greenhouse for free the first time the play after FarmVille updates, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Greenhouse frame on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later (by switching to the Multi-Tool for instance).

The new Greenhouse is a multi-level constructible building where each level requires a certain amount of building parts to complete, and each level allows the use of more seeding trays (see below):

  • Level 1 – 12 parts total: 4 Wooden Boards, 4 Nails and 4 Bricks. Includes 1 seed tray.
  • Level 2 – 45 parts total: 15 Wooden Boards, 15 Nails and 15 Bricks. Includes 4 seed trays.
  • Level 3 – 60 parts total; 20 Wooden Boards, 20 Nails and 20 Bricks. Includes 8 seed trays.

Like many constructible building parts, you can acquire these items by:

  • Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For More” button for each type of part).
  • Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.
  • Acquire individual parts by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Buy” button for that particular part). Each part is one (1) Farm Cash.
  • Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building). The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the amount of parts left needed to finish the building.
  • Potentially through the use of Special Delivery Boxes.
  • Using individual parts already available in your Gift Box.

As you complete each level of Greenhouse, it becomes bigger and grander visually:

If you do not get the Greenhouse initially or wind up deleting (or otherwise losing) it, you can purchase it in the Market (under Buildings). You’ll need to be Level 5 to use it.

Discovering New Seeds

To see what the Greenhouse can offer (and it’s at least Level 1) just click on it on your farm and choose “Look Inside” from the menu options. The initial Greenhouse display looks like this:

Right now you’re looking at the Nursery display. Here you can find and use the right seed combinations to produce one of the new crops. Just click on the “Place a Seed” display and you’ll see a mini-Market display showing twenty familiar crops (like Strawberries, Lilacs, Wheat, etc.). Once you enter in the right two-crop combination, you’ll be told what the new crop will be and that the experimentation process has started and you’ll be deducted the cost (in coins, listed under each crop). If you enter in the wrong combination you’ll get an error message.

The Nursery display will then look like this when you start a proper two-crop combination:

In this example you can see I’m experimenting with using Raspberries and Strawberries to make a new crop. Generally this process will take three (3) days. However, if I click on “Ask Friends For Help” I can speed up this process. Each Friend I get to help me out will reduce the experimentation time by a day, so if three friends help me out, I can finish the experimenting instantly. You can also speed up the process by clicking on “Complete Now” and spending Farm Cash (the cost is two (2) Farm Cash for each friend that hasn’t helped you so far, so if no friends have helped you then the cost is six (6) Farm Cash).

Once the experimentation process is over the clock will be replaced with an image of a new seed packet. Click on “Harvest” and you’ll be rewarded with a new super-enhanced crop (in the case of mixing the Strawberries and Raspberries you get the Straspberry).

Each time you finish experimentation you’ll get fifty (50) seeds of this new crop, which is placed in your Market and can be seeded (similar to giftable Limited Edition crops). You’ll also be able to share this new crop with your friends.

If you look at the Nursery bar you can see that you only have one seed tray to work with. As you expand the Greenhouse (click on the “Expand Greenhouse” button to see what you need), you’ll get access to many more seed trays so you can experiment with a lot more special crops at the same time. For instance, a Level 2 Greenhouse will get you four (4) seed trays and the Nursery will look like this:

Just click on a tray button to move between the trays. You can experiment with any combination of special crops, there’s no restriction as to which you can try out. There will be a green “Ready” label over the ones that are ready to be harvested.

Clicking on the “Seed Genealogy” button will bring you to the genealogy display, where you can see all of the special crops available for experimenting:

You can learn more about these special crops as well as how far along your Mastery of these crops are (yes they can be Mastered!) by moving your mouse over the crop image.

Happy farming!

The Guide to Breeding Ducks

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

Yellow DucklingNow that you’ve got one or more Duck Ponds teeming with ducks, what else can you do with them? Well, it’s time to start breeding some brand new ones!

.

.

Every time you harvest the Duck Pond (once every 24 hours), you have a chance of getting a Yellow or Brown Duckling out of it in addition to the general coin reward for harvesting. The color of the Duckling is determined by what kind of ducks are in your Duck Pond, and the color also determines what kind of ducks can be bred from it. If you just use previous ducks, like the Ugly Duckling or White Swan, you’ll almost always get a Yellow Duckling. If you use a mix of duck types, you may get a Brown Duckling.

You have the option to share this Duckling on your feed:

After this your Duckling will be placed in the Gift Box. You can then choose to place the Duckling on your farm or straight into your Duck Pond at any time from the Gift Box:

Placing the Duckling on your farm will start the breeding process. If you put the Duckling in your Duck Pond, it will stay a Duckling only and the breeding process will be on hold. Once you place the Duckling, a new window will appear (in this case, let’s assume it’s a Yellow Duckling):

Breeding ducks is a factor of both time and friendship. You can see a line of seven (7) Ducks here: the rarity of the Ducks increases as you go from left to right. However, the time you have to breed that kind of duck decreases while the number of friends you need to breed that duck increases (as you go from left to right). Over time you lose the ability to breed certain ducks for that particular Duckling.

Sounds complex? First, here’s a chart to map it all out:

For a Yellow Duckling, in order to get the valuable Indian Runner Duck I need seven (7) neighbors to help me over the next twenty-four (24) hours (the timer starts as soon as I put the Duckling on the farm).

If I only manage to get the help of five (5) neighbors, the best duck I can breed with the Yellow Duckling is the Goldeneye Duck for the next seventy-two (72) hours. However, if I don’t breed the duck within that period, I lose the ability to get the Goldeneye Duck and then the best duck I can get is the Red Billed Duck. A day later if I still don’t breed a duck, the best duck I can get is the Scoter Duck.

Alternatively, let’s say I get a Brown Duckling but can only get two (2) neighbors to help me out. I can only breed the Red Billed Duck or the Goldeneye Duck for the next six (6) days. But if a day passes and four (4) more neighbors help me out, I can still breed the Wood Duck.

To grow the Duck, just find the one you want and click on “Choose” beneath its picture. You’ll get the new duck in your Gift Box:

You can get help from your neighbors by just clicking on the “Ask For Help” button and choosing which neighbors you want to ask. This sends a standard request through the Zynga Message Center (ZMC) which the recipient can easily respond to. You can also choose to speed up the growth process by paying Farm Cash, which will let you breed whatever duck you want that hasn’t already been expired (if pay Farm Cash after two days, you can only breed five of the seven duck types).

After seven days the duck will just grow into the last available duck (the Ugly Duckling for the Yellow Duckling for example); if you’d rather keep the duckling as is you can close the window and you’ll be asked if you just want to keep the Duckling the way it is permanently.

Farmville Duck Ponds Are Here: Official Guide

Share

Share with your friends on Facebook

Farmville Duck Ponds are released to the limited number of farmers, it is a slow release and rolling out to all farmers.

Here is the official guide by Farmville Community Specialist: Voltai

.

Sure, ducks are beautiful animals generally (though don’t get me started on the Ugly Duckling), but what’s a little quacking without having a body of water to call home?

Well, that home is now available in FarmVille: the Duck Pond!

Duck Ponds are constructible buildings that can house up to twenty (20) ducks (or similar animals like swans). You can also customize the look of your Duck Pond by selecting which five ducks you’d like to see on the Pond in your farm. Soon we’ll add the ability to do some fun duck breeding.

Fillin’ up the Pond
You will get the initial frame for the Duck Pond for free the first time you play FarmVille after the update, and you will immediately be entered into Placement Mode. You can place the Duck Pond frame on your farm now, or you can choose to place it in your Gift Box for use later. You must be at least Level 5 to place a Duck Pond.

The Duck Pond is a constructible building, though it will require some different building parts than most of constructible buildings. The full build the Duck Pond you’ll need a grand total of forty (40) parts: twenty (20) Watering Cans and twenty (20) Shovels (you’re digging up a hole in the ground and putting water in it, after all):

Like other constructible building parts, you can acquire these items by:

  • Asking your neighbors for these parts by posting a help request to your feed (click on the “Ask For More” button for each type of part).
  • Give parts to your neighbors via the Free Gifts page or the “Send Gifts” button.
  • Acquire individual parts by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Buy” button for that particular part). Each part is 1 Farm Cash.
  • Acquire all needed parts for the building by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase parts for the rest of the building).
  • The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the amount of parts left needed to finish the building.
  • Potentially through the use of Special Delivery Boxes.
  • Using individual parts already available in your Gift Box.

Here’s a partially built and fully constructed Duck Pond:

If you do not get a Duck Pond initially or wind up deleting (or otherwise losing) it, you can purchase it in the Market (under Buildings -> Animals) for 5,000 coins. Note that you can purchase a fully-built Duck Pond for 40 Farm Cash. If you already have a Duck Pond on your farm, you will not be able to place another Duck Pond (for coins). However, you will be able to place a new, fully built Duck Pond if you buy the Farm Cash version.

Putting the Quack in your Duck Pond
This is what you’ll see when you finish your Duck Pond (you can see this screen at any time by clicking on the Duck Pond and choosing the “Look Inside” option):

Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

Admittedly an empty Duck Pond is rather placid and boring. It’s time to relocate some ducks! Hopefully you have some on your farm you can move into your Duck Pond, but if you don’t, you can ask your neighbors for ducks by clicking on the Free Gifts page and selecting the Duck:

Some types of ducks will also be available by other means, such as the Market or by a gifting icon in the game.

In this example below we’ll look at how you can re-arrange the look of your Duck Pond on your farm. After I fully built out this Duck Pond, I added ten ducks to it in random fashion:

Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

There’s a number of Green Mallards and a variety of other ducks. You’ll see that five Green Mallards are standing on the rocks at the bottom of the window, while the rest of the ducks are in the water. Those ducks on the rocks also show up on the pond as you see it on the farm:

I’d rather have some of my more colorful ducks showing up, rather than these five Green Mallards. If I click on a duck on the rock, I can return it to the pond quickly. Then when I click on a duck on the water, I will see this:

Clicking on “Feature” will move that duck over to a rock (if there’s a free rock). If I choose “Remove” I will remove the duck from the Duck Pond (and can then put it back on the farm). After some rearranging, here are the ducks now standing on the rocks:

And this is how the Duck Pond now looks on the farm:

Advertisement: Get 5 Female Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Male Mandarin Ducks – $6.99, 5 Green Mallards- $6.99 (50% Off)

Only these five ducks will show up on the farm this way, so you can easily choose which ducks you want to show off.

Finally, you can harvest the Duck Pond once every twenty-four (24) hours for coins. Soon enough we will be adding the ability to breed new ducks, so stay tuned!
